CJ Residence

Once inside, CJ Residence felt like a quiet little refuge in KK, even though the entrance is tucked between two restaurants behind an unremarkable doorway, with a couple of flights of stairs to climb. There’s no elevator to the third floor, and my room had no window, so next time I’d choose one with a view. Still, the room was cozy, clean, and well equipped. The bed was just right, the linens were clean, the towels soft and good quality, and water, coffee, and tea were replenished regularly. Most things are close by on foot, with a mall across the street, restaurants all around, and the waterfront and markets nearby. Staff kept in touch by WhatsApp and replied quickly. When my AC remote battery died and I couldn't turn the unit off, leaving me way too cold, lol, they fixed it quickly. Look past the odd entrance and you may be pleasantly surprised by what this "hotel" residence offers.

The facilities and necessities were all good, and the room was cozy. Staff were friendly and easy to reach on WhatsApp. I’d recommend CJ Residence for solo travellers or couples, and I’ll definitely stay here again if I get the chance to visit Kota Kinabalu.

I usually don't leave reviews, but the room and service here really impressed me. Communication was excellent and I got quick replies. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and I was given a free upgrade to one with a large, beautiful window. Some people complain about there being no elevator, but I think the value for money is so good that those negative reviews are undeserved.

The staff were the best part for me. They paid close attention to making the stay go well, even lending out handy extras like a power bank in the bedside table, waterproof phone covers, luggage scales, and plenty of nice toiletries. They also told me about things happening nearby, like the weekend night matket, and helped when I asked to have a parcel delivered there while I was travelling. The rooms are pleasant and nicely presented, and the location is convenient and easy to find. Hope this place keeps going for a long time.
