Grace Suite @ The Shore Kota Kinabalu

The buffet was average, about what you'd expect at a 2-3 star hotel. My bedding also felt a little compact. They didn't leave slippers in the room, and perhaps you can ask for them, but nobody answered when I called around 10pm. Reception felt more transactional than welcoming. It was a decent stay, though there's plenty to improve.

The pillow made this stay stand out for me. I usually struggle with hotel pillows, but this one let me get truly restful sleep. The room was peaceful and thoughtfully laid out, a lovely place to unwind. At Citadines Kota Kinabalu, the hospitality felt warm, attentive, and gracious from the start. Zikry at reception was especially helpful, and a complimentary room upgrade made the stay even more memorable. It's a well-managed place with a quiet attention to comfort. I'd happily return.

The building had a strange smell throughout, and the elevators were slow enough that we often waited a long time. More frustrating was how little response we got from staff, who seemed disinterested and didn't sort out basic problems when we reported them. Housekeeping was inconsistent during our stay at Citadines Kota Kinabalu. Trash wasn't taken out daily, even after we told staff. Tea and coffee weren't replenished during our three nights, despite asking, and there were no small hand towels. The floors weren't properly swept and the public areas looked unattended. The stay was disappointing and below what we'd expected from the brand. There are better places to stay in Kota Kinabalu.

The hotel is so new, and the breakfast was well served. We also enjoyed the beautiful sunset view from the infinity pool. Great location and wonderful service from the staff, including Zikry. I'd definitely recommend it to friends.
