The room was spotless and comfortable, and felt well worth the price. Every meal was a delight, too. It was a great place to relax and get away from city life, and I thoroughly enjoyed my short stay. The holiday season brought some overwhelming crowds at times, but the staff managed things well and worked hard to keep the stay pleasant. I'd gladly come back.

I especially enjoyed the quiet setting, private beach, and greenery all around the resort. The facilities, including the pool, restaurants, and recreational activities, were excellent. On 11 May 2026, I had a memorable stay at Shangri-La Rasa Ria. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable, and had a lovely view. Staff made us feel welcome from arrival and stayed warm, professional, and attentive throughout. Breakfast was excellent, with a good range of local and international dishes.

The food was so good, especially the pizza and Mee Tuaran, which was seriously sedapppp. I booked a room at Shangri-La Rasa Ria for my in-laws and sister-in-law, and the hospitality was amazing. Although the booking was for 2 pax, the hotel kindly gave us an extra bed at no charge, which made the stay more comfortable and memorable. Thanks to the Front Office and her Manager for being so kind and welcoming. It's a beautiful resort with accommodating staff, great food, and excellent service. Highly recommend it for a family staycation or a relaxing holiday in Sabah! 🙏🏻😍

At 6:00 PM, we still hadn't received the key to our last room, and plenty of other guests were asking about their rooms as well. This was an unacceptable check-in at Ocean Wing today. I'm a returning guest and expected a 5-star standard, but the operation was a mess. We booked 3 rooms for 3 days and 2 nights and arrived at 3:30 PM, half an hour after the 3:00 PM check-in time, because we knew it was peak season and hoped to avoid the rush. Check-in took 25 minutes. At 4:00 PM only ONE room was ready, and staff couldn't say when the other two would be available. They sent us to the Ria Lounge for complimentary high tea, but it was tiny, crowded with tired people, and messy. Tables had dirty plates and cups, and they had run out of clean plates and even milk for coffee, so we left. My elderly parents were exhausted and needed to rest. Nobody called us by 5:00 PM, so I contacted reservations myself and learned the second room was finally ready. I went to the front desk for its key and asked about the final room. The agent handed me the key but ignored my question. I waited patiently another 30 minutes, asked politely again, and still got no answer. At 5:45 PM I was still sitting there waiting. The resort has been operating for over a decade. Sabah has public holidays and tourist seasons every month, so high occupancy isn't an excuse for poor planning and communication. Why weren't extra resources assigned to the bottleneck? If the resort can't handle the crowds while maintaining quality, it shouldn't accept so many bookings. A simple apology can't give my family back the hours of rest we lost. We're celebrating Visit Malaysia 2026 this year, and this is a terrible welcome for tourists. I want management to explain how they'll fix this and make it right for us.
