OYO Premium Changkat Bukit Bintang

Our room kept getting changed until they found one with a working air-conditioner. That room was a little better, but the toilet was coming off the wall, there was hair and scum on the bed's headboard, and the deal was falling apart with a drawer missing. On our floor, the cover panel for the main junction box and the ceiling tile above it had both been removed, and it looked like there might be electrical problems. The place is rundown and tired, with most services broken, not working properly or outdated. It seems the online photos haven't been updated and don't show how bad the condition is now. It may have been well appointed 20 or 30 years ago, around the time it was last renovated. Unless you specifically need a room amid all the massage parlours in Bukit Bintang, I'd avoid it.

The staff were really friendly, and Alor Street is right around the corner, which is a great location. But my partner and I were so uncomfortable with the room that we checked out just two hours after checking in. There were cockroaches everywhere, including lots in the toilet, and the ceiling was in really bad shape and dripping. The room conditions felt disgusting and unhygienic to us.

Alor Street can be noisy, so if you wake easily, ask for a room without a window. We could leave our bags after checkout while going sightseeing, which was handy. The staff were friendly and helpful, including carrying luggage up to the room. There’s no lift, but that was okay. Our room was clean, the air conditioning cooled well, and the water heater worked. We got two clean towels that looked new, plus two bottles of water and two soaps. It’s conveniently near the Bukit Bintang MRT, Alor exit, and the Bukit Bintang LRT. I’d stay here again when I’m in KL.

For a budget stay, the queen room without a window was comfortable and good value. The service was friendly too, which made the stay pleasant if you’re looking for an affordable place with a warm welcome.
