OYO 115 Hotel Safari 1

The location is gold, with Pelita nasi kandar open 24 hours and shawarma, kunafa baklava, sushi shops, and other eateries just a short walk away. We arrived after 10pm, when the nearby mall and shops had closed, so parking was plentiful. The next day was a public holiday too, so we didn’t have to pay for parking. I felt really safe here, and we didn’t run into any of the foreigners mentioned in some reviews. We ended up here late at night after another hotel refunded us because of water problems. We urgently needed a room, so I hadn’t read the reviews beforehand. I was surprised by what I read later because we enjoyed our stay and had no complaints. The room was clean, the air conditioning was cold, the water heater worked, and the water pressure was strong. The beds were good too. At first the room smelled strongly of ubat gegat. I’d read about the roaches issue afterward, but we didn’t see any. There was a sejadah in the cupboard, and I think the hotel is Muslim-owned. I especially liked having lots of sockets. I was working remotely, and it was easy to charge our phones and other devices. The friendly front office guy checked us in quickly. For the price we paid, everything was good, and we’ll come back next time.

The hotel is old, smelly, and not very clean.

The room was so warm that sleeping was difficult, as the air conditioner wasn’t working properly. Maybe maintenance wasn’t done regularly. The underside of the bed hadn’t been cleaned properly either. Parking was very tight and made it hard to park an MPV. The TV had only two channels, TV2 and Awesome TV.

A really bad stay. The place was very dirty, with small insects, and the floor and bed were filthy. The air conditioner didn’t work. We told them more than once, but nobody cared. It wasn’t even worth one ringgit.
