The Regency Scholars Hotel Kuala Lumpur

The breakfast was good, with lots of choices, and it follows Regency hotel's standard since it's under Regency hotel. The hotel doesn't look great from outside, tucked inside UTM KL campus, but I was drawn in by the lovely, trendy design when I stepped into the reception and café. Mostly managed by students, with polite service. A surprisingly nice hotel.

The room needs some improvement. Mine had ants all over the kitchen counter, and the towels weren't cleaned properly. The lounge was nice, with an amazing book collection and good food. Customer service was alright, neither excellent nor bad.

The seventh-floor common area has a nice view, and the facilities themselves are decent. You also don't need to leave a key in the room to keep the power on. But customer service has been frustrating. I've called three times asking for towels after housekeeping removed our old ones without leaving replacements. We were given two key cards, and one quit working after the first night. Our breakfast was cancelled, and we had to complain before we got one. Also, what they call an American breakfast is actually British. The WiFi reception is poor and usually there's no internet, and there are no pool towels. The rooms have kitchenettes, but no pots, pans or utensils, so the space feels wasted.

The room had a nice view of the town through the window. In the morning, though, children running in the corridor were very loud, so the sound insulation needs work. A hair dryer in the room would be useful too.
