I’m cycling through Malaysia from Thailand, and I’ve been disappointed by the prices of run-down hotels here, especially compared with Thailand, where a nice place with all the amenities costs 60 MYR. This is the only hotel since the border with Thailand that I’ve been happy with. I stayed in the smaller room, which was very clean, had room to move around, a table, and an actual window. The pillow smelled like flowers when I lay down. It’s a house-style place with, I think, six rooms. There wasn’t a receptionist on site, but after I called the number, a very nice woman arrived with the room key in about five minutes. The door locks and has a second chain latch. The air conditioning worked well, and the lobby has a hot and cold water dispenser that made morning coffee easy. It’s true that water use, even the bidet, makes a crazy noise in the walls. But compared with what I’ve seen as standard at other budget hotels in the country, I couldn’t care less. I was very happy with the stay for the price.

I was fairly happy with the room, though it only had a simple door lock. The toilet is very close to the sink corner, so parents need to be extra careful with children. Before arriving, I called to ask about the cafe, and the receptionist said there would be one, so food wouldn’t be a problem. Once I got there, though, they said it was closed for renovation or something. They should have made that clear from the start. I hope the service improves.

We were disgusted by the bed setup and left after only an hour. There were two large, fresh stains on the bed, visible through the new mattress cover, and the pillows were dirty too. It looked like no care had been taken when changing the bed. Ants were everywhere, and the room didn’t have a proper lock, which made us worry our belongings could be stolen easily. The owners didn’t make any further effort to help. Extremely dirty and unsafe.

For one person, my air-conditioned queen room cost 80 RM plus 3 in tax. The bed was super comfortable, the AC was great, and the contact was excellent. There’s a clean shared fridge and a hot and cold water dispenser. The center is a 15-minute walk away.
