Primula Beach Hotel

The view was lovely, and the staff upgraded my room. The hotel is in a nice spot by the beach and near central Kuala Terengganu, but the building needs renovation. My room walls were covered in mold, the corridor carpet was extremely dirty, and just one lift served the whole building. The beach in front of the hotel was very dirty too.

The location is a real plus, with two large malls within walking distance along the beach, and the sea view is nice too. It's an old hotel, though. Apart from the towels and linens, everything looked aged. For a four-star place, it was lousy not to have a toothbrush, shampoo or shower gel, bottled water, a hand towel, or a safe. The bed was a bit hard but still comfortable.

The staff were excellent and very helpful, but the breakfast spread could use improvement. For pricing comparable to a four-star hotel, the room quality doesn't meet that standard and needs work. The mattress springs could be felt through it, and the pillows were old and much too firm. The room needs serious refurbishment.

The restaurant was a problem too. Staff swept food scraps from the tables onto the floor, and I had to ask for my table to be cleaned before sitting down. There were no paper towels or forks and spoons set out. When I asked them to prepare the table, they looked annoyed. The room was very noisy, with water pressure audible whenever another guest used the toilet. The furniture was old, and only one elevator was working.
