Grand City Hotel II

The queen room was RM68 a night and was just okay for my three-night stay. The extra state tax spoiled the deal, about RM9, or I guess RM3 per night. In 2024, they still only take cash. Parking was hard to find, and there aren’t many restaurants nearby, so you need a car or motorbike.

The first room’s air conditioning had broken, so I was moved to a second room, but its unit wasn’t working well either. Even set to 16 degrees with the fan at full speed, it wasn’t very cold. I didn’t ask to move again because all three of my kids were asleep, and opening the window made the temperature comfortable enough. Everything else was nice. I think the air conditioning needs regular servicing. Thanks.

The room they gave us wasn’t the one we’d booked and had no window. The linen, floor, and toilet were dirty. When we asked to move, staff said every room was booked, so we asked for clean linen instead. There was no remote control, phone, or water in the room either. In the end, staff simply told us to cancel, without fixing anything. The worst place to stay with family. Stay away if you want good vacation memories. ☹️

For a cheap stay, it was okay, and parking is available, though you need a coupon for daytime parking. Our family room was spacious and comfortable, and the windowless couple room was okay too, with enough space to perform solat. There’s an elevator. The toilet was quite dirty, and housekeeping had left the rubbish behind. Maybe they were rushing, since we arrived at 3pm on Friday and the rooms we’d booked weren’t ready. We stayed two nights, but no one came to do housekeeping on the second day, so I’m not sure whether that service was available. I think they could improve.
