Waking up to the Sarawak River and the Astana from my river-facing room was breathtaking, and I made a daily ritual of watching the sunset over the water. The breakfast buffet was average, with the same menu each morning, though the Sarawak Laksa and Kolo Mee tasted authentic and full of local flavor. I also loved the Roti Jala. The hotel has a classic feel, and the rooms are spacious, clean, and well kept. Staff were friendly, attentive, and always smiling. Its city-centre location made it easy to walk to the Cat Statue and Kuching Waterfront, or pop over to Sarawak Plaza for shopping. I also enjoyed the outdoor pool. My three days here were the highlight of my Kuching trip, with a nice mix of local culture and modern comfort.

The front desk team were friendly and really helpful when I asked what to visit or avoid during Kuching Parade Day. The next morning, though, the restaurant looked nearly full at breakfast. I asked the woman stationed at the entrance desk if there was a free table, and she ignored me. She looked like a middle-aged staff member, though I'm not sure what her role was. Absolutely impressive audacity 🤣

I accidentally left my blazer in my room at Grand Margherita Hotel Kuching. The staff found it quickly and arranged to courier it back to me, and it arrived in good condition. I really appreciate their honesty and efficiency. Great service, highly recommended!

The rooms and facilities were comfortable and well maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, with a selection that suited the hotel's standard. It's reasonably priced and right at the Kuching Waterfront, beside the Cat Statue, the city's signature landmark. Topspot Food Court is directly across from the hotel, too.

We enjoyed our stay and found it easy to get to nearby attractions and well-known places to eat. Our Executive Deluxe Twin was roomy and comfortable, though parts of the bathroom, including the tap, were shaky and starting to show their age. The five-day booking included continental breakfast and use of the Executive Lounge, which overlooks the river and serves drinks and canapés.
