Eagle Bay Hotel

The room windows were jammed, so we couldn't open them to let out the warm air. The toilet was awful, with water leaking everywhere. After checking in, there was nobody at reception or on watch, which left us shocked to be at such an unsafe place. We left our luggage there and went to a tourist attraction anyway. For a full day, we had no forks or spoons because there was nobody to help at reception. The hotel feels like it's totally losing money. If you're booking in future, I'd suggest a hotel in CENANG instead of KUAH.

We were four, my husband, our two kids and me, and the room price was affordable for us. The room looked renovated and I had no complaints about it, apart from the pillows being a bit hard. Staff were friendly, and the set breakfast was tasty with a generous portion. We stayed two nights.

We had to change rooms three times. The first had no AC and no bathroom water; in the second, the AC barely cooled anything, even after 4 hours. The third was fairly alright, but there were live insects on the bed that looked like bedbugs or lice. The building is dilapidated, with many parts in disrepair. The hallway lights kept flickering, and only one elevator was working, with no ventilation. The room was old and musty, with peeling wooden structures. Part of the kettle wire was exposed with no insulation. The shower was awkwardly placed in a corner without a barrier, so water could flow to the toilet and door. The toilet also had to be flushed by pushing up instead of down, which was weird. Breakfast was meant to run from 7am to 10am, but by 8:30am there was no food left. Replacements came slowly or not at all. On the second day most items were gone, including noodles, bread and egg, leaving only noodle sauce, tomatoes and baked beans. The food was inedible. Staff were friendly, at least. This place is very old, not worth the price, and I wouldn't recommend it.

The place is conveniently located, but parking is limited. The car park is shabby and "haunted," and the rooms feel gloomy with a smelly bathroom. Facilities are poor, though it's super duper cheap. I was there for an athletics camp, and at midnight we heard some "stuff." You could stay here, but there are better options.
