The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi

The pool was peaceful, the sunsets were beautiful, and the food and service were phenomenal. Two months after our trip to the Ritz Langkawi, my partner and I are still thinking about one of the best holidays we’ve had. We ended up having dinner at Horizon every night. The food and hospitality there were fabulous, and Jenie was a wonderful host. When she heard we were celebrating my partner’s birthday, she surprised us by bringing a cake to the table. The staff made every night memorable and checked that we were enjoying ourselves. I still remember the little snacks at turndown, the complimentary nibbles by the pool, sliced cucumber sent to our room to help with sunburn, and the laundry service arriving on time. We’ll definitely be back.

We spent 10 nights at the Ritz Carlton Langkawi for our honeymoon, and the staff made it a trip we won’t forget. It’s a beautiful place, tucked into the forest, with pristine pools and a beach. We can’t wait to return, and it’s experiences like these that keep me loyal to the Ritz Carlton and the wider Marriott brand as a Titanium member. Three people especially went above and beyond. When I had a health concern and asked to see a doctor, Mia came to find us during dinner and arranged a visit within an hour. She showed real care and compassion, and kept checking on how I was doing throughout our stay. She’s a genuinely big-hearted person and a wonderful ambassador for the brand. Muhen, the Senior Concierge, was personable and hospitable, and knew so much about Langkawi. Miraj, our housekeeper, made each return to our room feel special with thoughtful touches: surprise treats, neatly tied cables, lovely notes and baths filled with petals.

Two weeks after coming home, my husband and I still have the holiday blues. This was our first stay at a Ritz-Carlton, and we were blown away. It really felt like a tropical paradise. We loved the quiet sunrise views from the balcony of our spacious Deluxe Room, which had elegant decor and a beautiful view of the Andaman Sea. The resort sits in lush jungle. After a long flight, finding the huge freestanding bathtub already filled was such a lovely welcome, and the Diptyque toiletries were a luxurious touch. The team made us feel so welcome and remembered our names. Breakfast was outstanding, especially the pastries. We also ate at Hai Yan, Horizon and the Beach Grill, and enjoyed everything. At the Horizon bar, I especially recommend the Korean Chicken Burger. A big thank you to Executive Chef Okan for his generosity and hospitality, and to Ashok, our housekeeper, for the handwritten notes and turndown treats. We were lucky to see local wildlife around the grounds. Dusty Leaf Monkeys were playing on the beach, and we spotted dolphins offshore, which we were told is a rare treat. On our last evening, a pair of magnificent Hornbills made a perfect end to the trip. My one suggestion is about the water activities. At similar luxury resorts, kayaking and paddleboarding were complimentary, so I was surprised these came with a charge here. Including them would make the guest experience even better. This was a dream stay, and we’re already planning to return.

The hotel’s lush forest setting and great design make it one of the island’s most beautiful places. Don’t miss Horizon, the bar beside the infinity pool, with its signature cocktails. Julien Hugues patiently talked us through each drink and helped us choose one that suited our taste. He was polite and knowledgeable. We enjoyed every moment of our stay.
