The breakfast area looks grand, but the food was a 1/10 for me, easily the worst hotel breakfast I've had. At RM58 per person or RM78 for two, it didn't feel worth the money, especially when you could get a better breakfast elsewhere in Melaka. The oranges looked aged, the other fruit didn't look fresh or appetising, and the broccoli and cauliflower were overcooked. Bread choices were limited, and butter and jam sat in shared containers at room temperature, which felt unhygienic. The milk for cereal tasted odd, maybe diluted or not fresh, while the Milo from the machine was watery and seemed like the powder hadn't been refilled properly. The nasi lemak rice was bland and seemed slightly undercooked, and the curry chicken tasted reheated several times. I was excited to see Roti Jala, but it was cold and hard. Roti Canai was only decent when freshly made on request, otherwise it was cold and tough. The buns and Siew Mai were cold and hardened too. The fishball kuey teow soup was underwhelming, with bean sprouts that looked old and fishballs that didn't taste fresh. There wasn't a yoghurt station either. I did enjoy the stay and would return for the comfort and room. The room was very spacious, even bigger than some 5-star hotels, and had complete amenities, including a shaver. Cleanliness was about 8/10. The bathroom was large, with a big mirror and double basins, nice for couples or a honeymoon. One issue was the lack of a glass divider by the shower, which left the whole toilet floor wet and slippery. Next time, I'll skip breakfast.

There are no laundry facilities anywhere in the hotel, not even a self-service room, which is a useful amenity for anyone travelling for several days. The front desk interaction made that gap feel worse. When I politely asked about laundry, the staff member didn't look up and just said “outside,” with no directions or explanation. It came across as dismissive and unprofessional. The room's outlets were all Malaysian standard, with no universal sockets or adapters provided, so many international travellers may not be able to charge their devices. For a hotel that hosts foreign guests, that's a basic facility to miss. From the amenities to the service, I found the experience disappointing. International travellers might want to think twice before booking.
We found plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby, and the city view from the 12th floor was great. The room was clean, comfortable, and had all the necessities. Booking through Trip.com was easy, and check-in went smoothly. There was lots of parking outside if you arrive early, plus plenty of spaces in the multi-level parking building. We really enjoyed our stay.
Hussain, the head bellman, was a real help. He took our laundry to be done and brought it back to the room, and gave us advice on all sorts of things. We loved our stay at Austeria by Attic. Our suite was huge, with a beautiful, comfortable bed, classy furnishings, and fresh, clean sheets and towels. It also had some unique touches. We'd happily recommend staying here and would definitely return.
The check-in really stood out. Hakimi at the front desk was attentive, helpful, and genuinely warm, and made my stay that much better. The room was spacious and thoughtfully stocked, right down to toothbrushes labelled A & B. Calling it a 5-star hotel wouldn't be an exaggeration. This is the best hotel I've stayed at in Melaka, and it'll be my first choice whenever I visit again.
