Sleepy Nomad Hostel

The river setting is beautiful, and the dorm was spacious and clean, with its own bathroom. The common area looks scenic by day and at night. Staff were nice, but absent around 90% of the time, so getting help meant waiting and was a hassle. One night I could hear a staff member vomiting repeatedly in the bathroom beside the dorm room, and she seemed very drunk. There's no water refill station either.

There's a small eatery outside the house with decent Western food at affordable prices. The place sits beside the river, so you get a nice view from the common area while relaxing. The room and shared space are pleasant and well equipped.

Really enjoyed my stay. It was clean and comfortable, and the atmosphere felt good. The staff were friendly and helpful the whole time. I'd happily return and recommend it.

From the common lounge on Level 2, you can look out over the river while you relax. The water isn't clear, but there's no strange smell. Both common areas, on L1 and L2, were clean and well kept, the wifi was steady, and check-in and check-out were simple. Free coffee and tea were a nice touch. The owner was friendly and said I could mingle with others upstairs. The yellow walls made the hostel easy to spot at the end of a narrow alley, right by the bridge. The alley didn't feel dark or deserted, with cafes and food and drink shops along the way. It worked well as a base to explore this part of Malacca and across the bridge. My dorm was very clean and had its own ensuite, so I didn't have to leave the room to use the bathroom. The bed and bathroom were clean, though one bed's wall had some colored stains. The shower heater worked well, but its handle was a little too high for me.
