MG Hotel

For an 8am ferry, we needed to be at the terminal an hour early, and check-in closed 30 minutes before departure. Reception asked us to wait in the lobby at 7am, but the shuttle didn't arrive until 7:16am. We could have walked there ourselves instead of wasting time waiting. They say they provide transport from the hotel to the ferry terminal, but this was useless. If they can't offer a shuttle service, they shouldn't waste people's time. I don't recommend staying here.

MG hotel was impressively clean and well kept, with fresh towels provided. It's conveniently located near the jetty, places to eat, supermarkets, convenience stores, banks and more. I'd definitely recommend it to family and friends.

The hotel is near a large shop with groceries and other things, and it's a better option in my view than hotels on the busy streets. The jetty is about a 15-minute walk away, but the hotel offers free transport. We had one night in a room with one double bed and two singles. It was simple, with enough space and acceptable cleanliness. I noticed a few ants, but it wasn't a big issue. The air conditioning worked well, and although the bathroom was a little small, the shower and heater both worked.

I was happy with the hotel, its service, and its location near the bus station and port. I arrived after midnight and was welcomed with a smile and kindness. As soon as I got there, they asked if I planned to take the morning ferry to Tioman Island. When I said yes, they explained that the only ferry running to the island on those days left at 10am, and that I'd need to be ready at 8am to go to the port by car.
