St Giles Southkey

The room was clean, and I liked the day bed and small desk. There was a water dispenser at the end of our 14th-floor corridor, plus a secure door into the mall. The pool, view, and bar on the 28th floor were awesome, though the promised live band wasn’t there because there weren’t enough customers. We had a first-time experience with the sahur mini buffet at 4:30 a.m. It cost the same as breakfast. Getting out on Sunday was a hassle with so many guests checking out. The lifts are slow, and we had to ride up just to get back down to the ground floor. There are about six or seven lifts. For motorcycle parking, valet right outside the hotel costs RM50 per night per entry, the same as for cars. The other option is leaving the motorcycle at the loading dock at the far end of the complex with the Grab riders. The ring light around the mirror in our room didn’t work.

The rooms are spacious, and the higher floors have nice views. Staff and housekeeping were professional and attentive, and the hotel felt clean and safe. It’s easy to get to the mall, and the breakfast package is convenient. There weren’t many rice-based choices at the breakfast buffet, but their *kopi tarik* is one of the best I’ve had. ☕️

We found it very easy to get around from here. The hotel is close to attractions, shops, and places to eat, and that was the strongest part of our stay. At night, especially, we could hear very loud water sounds coming from the ceiling. We couldn’t work out where it was coming from, and it was disturbing enough to affect our rest and comfort. The room experience fell short of what we expected. Breakfast was underwhelming too, with limited choices and not much variety. The location is a real plus, but the room condition, noise, and breakfast all need attention.

Breakfast was delicious, with a wide range of food in the morning, and the hotel was convenient and child friendly. The designated smoking area is far from the hotel, and the shopping centre was handy. The downside is that there are no 24-hour shops nearby, so anyone wanting to chill at night has to head out. Cleanliness in our room wasn’t thorough. My children found two balloons tucked behind the curtains, there were food particles near the bedside, and the water kettle hadn’t been cleaned. I thought it had rust at first, but it wasn’t rust. Being convenient shouldn’t mean the cleaning standard drops. I still gave it five stars because it was worth it.
