The path was swallowed by grass, and some of the building windows had no windows in them. Going by the review from a year earlier, I expected renovation work, but the place didn’t look like it was being renovated.

Waze only takes you to a parking lot off the main road. While we were trying to find the place, a friendly villager told us it was closed for renovation and repairs.

You can spend RM10 for a quick tour of the small Melanau house, or stay there and get the experience. From the road, it’s a 2-3 minute walk along the wooden “street,” out in the sun.

The village atmosphere is calm and lovely, and this lodge is one of my favourite getaways in Sarawak.
