Ai Beach Resort

The resort is gorgeous, and the owner and his wife treated us very kindly. As we were already in the van on the way to Pangkor jetty after checking out, his wife called to ask whether we'd left a phone charging there. My father had, by mistake. The owner and his wife were willing to ride a motorcycle to the jetty and return it to us, and wouldn't accept a tip. Thank you again for that kindness.

The owners went out of their way to help us, even lending us a BBQ so we could cook the fish we'd caught. We had a great stay at Ai Beach Resort: the rooms were comfortable and clean for a great price, and it's close to food and beach activities. It was nice and quiet at night too. Definitely recommend it!

The owner gave us sensible advice about getting around Pangkor Island. He said renting a motorbike at the Jetty can be dangerous when you're carrying luggage, and suggested taking a Pink Taxi Van to the hotel or resort first. We asked Ai Beach Resort about a car instead, and the owner brought it right beside the Jetty so we could start driving around the island. They also have car and motorbike rentals. It's near Teluk Nipah, about a 2-minute walk. The room was clean and comfortable, the price was good, and you can ask at the counter for a hair dryer. There's a water dispenser, open space, washing machines and dryers, plus soda water and beers. Well equipped 😄

The owner couple were very friendly, and the location is handy: Teluk Nipah, the most beautiful beach, is a 3-minute walk away. Malay food stalls line the nearby streets. For Chinese food, you'd need to take a Grab to Sungai Pinang. We paid RM73 per person per night, which honestly felt expensive for a budget hotel in Pangkor, especially compared with similar hotels on Penang Island or Langkawi. The beds were the biggest problem. The mattress didn't support our backs properly, and all three of us, around our 30s, woke with back pain after both nights. If you have the budget, I wouldn't recommend bringing elderly parents here. Soundproofing was another major drawback. Noise from the neighboring resort kept us from sleeping well, late into the night and again early in the morning. It seems to have a swimming pool, and families with children were especially noisy, playing and talking loudly near our room.
