Empire Studio by SYNC

The room at Empire Damansara was clean, comfortable, and as described, but I felt uneasy about the safety of the place. When I first checked in, I saw a police line (garisan polis) at a nearby unit. It looked as though a crime might have happened recently, and I also read comments about a possible drug-related case. Later that night, someone knocked on my door several times. I checked, but nobody was there, and I was genuinely scared. I told the Airbnb host, who said nobody from their side was responsible for the knocking. The room and amenities were fine, but that experience affected how safe I felt. I hope management improves security, because this could be a great place to stay if those issues are addressed.

I booked a room through Agoda for the night. As we were driving out of the car park, patrolling policemen stopped us and searched our bags and phone, saying the place was recently known for drug dealing. They seemed to be looking for anything incriminating. Fortunately, they found nothing and let us leave, but we lost an hour waiting for “orders from their higher ranking officer.” I was looking for somewhere to stay, but ended up in a location rife with crime and corruption.

Only 2 elevators are working, and the wait to go up or down can reach 40 mins. Non-residents, please don’t come here for Airbnb or home stays. Cheap guests have made things inconvenient for the residents. If you want to stay in this area, hotel qliq damansara is next to this building and costs only RM 60 per night. Please don’t bring your family here. You don’t want to hear people’s business late at night just because you’re cheap. If you’re that cheap, please don’t come to KL for travel.

A cozy little studio rented through Airbnb. Nothing fancy, just a bed, table, bathroom and shower, plus Netflix on the TV and a couch to lounge on. Very cozy.
