We ended up moving to Glory beach resort3 apartment for just 15 ringgit more, and were much happier there. We’d planned at the last minute, so felt we had little choice, but this stay was painful and wasted our money. Who goes on holiday just to stay locked in their rooms? This felt more like an old folks’ home than a homestay. The floors were dusty and hadn’t been cleaned. The furniture, beds, mattresses, pillows, and sheets all looked like they belonged in an old folks’ home. One bathroom heater didn’t work, and the hall had no air conditioning, despite the owner saying she had already stated that only the three bedrooms had AC. The old sofa had cracked, peeling PVC leather and a span that was too hard to sit on. The owner was rude. The air conditioning wasn’t cooling, so she told us to keep the room doors closed and not to run it when nobody was in the room.
We’ve stayed in lots of Airbnbs and homestays, and this was the worst we’ve seen. None of these complaints are fake. When we checked the homestay registration, the business wasn’t on the registered list either. We filed a formal aduan SISPA MOTAC over the unreturned deposit and the unregistered business. The whole house was filthy, dusty, unhygienic, and neglected, especially the kitchen. The plates were stained, the jugs dirty, the furniture poorly maintained, and the chairs were already broken. The lights didn’t work at night. The heater and air conditioning were also not working, and we only heard about that 15 minutes before arrival, after we’d paid the deposit. When we reported the AC issue, the owner showed no concern and didn’t try to fix anything. Instead, they asked us to buy new bedsheets and showed us stained ones. The bedding already had old stains, and the iron couldn’t reach the bed. We only ironed on the board provided, but the owner blamed us and kept our 100 ringgit deposit, saying we’d broken items that we consider already broken. The deposit was kept anyway. If you value your money, comfort, and sanity, stay far away from this place. Don’t spend a cent on this joke of a homestay.
We paid RM250 a night, but the problems were bad enough that we had to book a hotel in the middle of the night. The listing claimed beachside-facing views, which wasn’t true. We were there over the weekend for my best friend’s wedding, and it was a very disappointing stay. The house was filthy when we arrived. The living hall AC didn’t work at all, and the master bedroom unit barely cooled. Only one of the two bathrooms had a working water heater, as the one in the shared bathroom was broken. Kitchen appliances were dirty and incomplete, several dining chairs were broken, the sofa set was damaged, and the lighting was far too dim. We told the owners about these issues, but they were rude and made no effort to fix anything or respond properly to our complaints. I wouldn’t recommend this homestay.
The furniture had thick layers of dust and the bedsheets were stained. Cleaning was appalling, and maintenance seemed non-existent. The host was incredibly rude and dismissive. We had a terrible experience.
The facilities were horrible and didn’t meet expectations. The air conditioning didn’t cool at all, the water heater wasn’t working, and the master bedroom light suddenly went out at midnight. The common toilet smelled like a “bangla toilet,” and the kitchen area smelled too. When we raised these complaints, the owner kept our deposit and falsely claimed we had broken the items.
