Family Beach Condo PD at Cocobay Resort Condominium

There’s plenty to do nearby, with food outlets, laundry, retail shops and a Polytechnic across the road. The beach is within walking distance too. It’s a mid-range resort condominium suited to families or rentals. Facilities include two large leisure pools, two badminton courts, BBQ pits and ample parking.

We booked an apartment at the last minute for an unplanned family vacation. There were seven of us, and we got the 6th floor. Most of the units there seemed empty. It was okay, not bad.

Very bad first impression, the building was dirty. The pillow cover in the room was dirty, some lights didn’t work, the door frame was broken with termites, and the television didn’t work, among other issues. I reported everything to management, but nothing was done before checkout.

We paid RM240 for a weekend through Airbnb because the photos looked great, and that was a big mistake. Once there, the whole place felt like a post-apocalyptic ruin: peeling paint, rubbish around hundreds of empty units, and pools marked as under repair. The elevator was broken, so good luck if you booked the second floor or above. The walkways had broken, bumpy holes everywhere, making it a definite no for wheelchair users. Management apparently isn’t happy with owners renting units through Airbnb, and we ran into problems getting into the property. The water was rusty and murky too, if that’s the kind of shower you’re after.
