The room was okay, with enough furniture to make it comfortable, and it had amenities and a hot shower. The staff were nice, and the location was good. It is expensive for what you get. At that price, the room quality should improve or the cost should come down a bit.

We came for a quick getaway and had dinner here, but the food was a letdown this time. We’d eaten here on our previous two trips and it had been okay then. The BBQ seafood, including fish, squid and prawns, was grilled too much and tasted extremely bitter. The fisherman grilled and BBQ squid were what we ordered. The Thai fried rice had lots of lemongrass but no pineapple, which I’d expected. They even charged SST, sales and service tax. Maybe the chef changed. I’m unlikely to return.

The food was nice, and that’s where the two stars come from. Everything else made the price hard to justify, so I wouldn’t recommend this resort. We stayed in Anggerik, a very rundown room for three people that cost RM263 a night but felt worth about RM150. The shower head was broken, the toilet seat was disgusting, and the mirrors were so dim and stained you couldn’t see your face. They gave drinking water only at check-in, with no more replenishment even if you stayed ten days. Dinner was served very late, around 8pm every night, so à la carte is a better option. The beach wasn’t well maintained, with dead coral and rocks that stung when you were in the water.

The accommodation and breakfast were okay. The beach was close to perfect, uncrowded, with a panoramic view from the beach side, and the location was great for canoeing. Two downsides: the bathroom facilities were poor, and all sorts of animals came visiting. You also have to pay for the wifi.
