Suang Noh Homestay Kundasang

My room was basic, but it was worth the price. I would've liked more furniture, maybe a table and wardrobe. The balcony view is okay, though trimming the trees would make Mount Kinabalu more visible. Please look into it, since everyone coming to Kundasang would surely like a clear mountain view.

The location is quite far from the national park, and getting help from the staff was frustrating. Mohammed at reception couldn't offer basic information about local transport or the town, and answered questions with “I don't know.” I got useful bus and travel advice from the guesthouse next door instead. The driver was also extremely exploitative, charging at least five times what seemed fair for a ride between places. The rooms are basic and get very hot in the daytime. When it cools off, you can't open the windows because there are no screens to keep mosquitoes and other insects out. One of the worst places and experiences I've had. Avoid it.

The countryside setting comes with a lovely scenic view, and there's a good restaurant just a minute away. There isn't food available at the homestay itself. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Great homestay.

The view from the room, and even outside, made the stay feel worth it. It was breezy and lovely to wake up to, and the place felt homey, with lots of tables for eating or just lepak. The kitchen is shared, but I didn't mind. I could cook and use the water dispenser and fridge. The people running it were genuinely nice. I had a quick breakfast chat with the owner, who was really welcoming. Facilities were pretty complete, including Netflix. The toilet had a slight smell, though it was tolerable, and the heater worked fine, even if the water pressure wasn't very strong. The place was moderately clean inside and out. Parking wasn't a problem, maybe because we went on a weekday and it wasn't crowded. This was one of the best stays I've had so far, and felt much better value than some places I'd tried before for about the same price. Totally satisfied, and I'd come back when I'm in kundasang.
