OYO 635 Seven Days Hotel

Everything you need is close: Public Bank, a coffee shop, supermarket and petrol stations are all about a two-minute walk away, with a Chinese and Hindu temple across the road. The room itself is very basic, with no real touch of luxury. The bed coverings didn’t look crisp or clean, and the open shower meant water got all over the bathroom. I later felt itchy after resting my head on the padded headboard. I guess it’s hard to clean.

I’ve stayed here over the past three years because I like the cleanliness and location, but lately smoke from the neighboring room has been a problem. On the night of 2 February 2024, the smell was overwhelming all night. I reported it to the front desk, and they kindly offered to move me, but I was too tired to pack and change rooms again. Management should enforce the no-smoking rule, fine people who break it and ban repeat offenders. Otherwise guests will keep smoking in rooms, undermining the hotel’s reputation for clean rooms and leaving the air polluted.

For the low price, it wasn’t too bad. There’s enough parking, and shops are close by, as is a self-service laundry open 24/7. Sadly, there’s no elevator. The Wi-Fi was pretty poor, so you’re better off using your own internet. The TV only had two channels.

It’s good value and near shops and restaurants, but the bathroom felt uncomfortable because it was quite dirty, with black mold and stains everywhere. There was no water in the sink either. The room lighting was gloomy and could be brighter. Staff should be trained to greet guests properly, for example by saying ‘terima kasih’ when someone leaves the reception counter, instead of just staring. The night staff member was friendly and good.
