The Youniq Hotel, KLIA 1 & KLIA 2 (Airport Transfer Pre-Book 48 hours via Hotel)

The receptionist was friendly, helpful, and alert, and made check-in easy. It’s a basic hotel, but well managed, with air conditioning and a fresh scent throughout the building. Our family room was just right for four, with a queen bed and a bunk bed for two. The bathroom was very clean, with body wash and shampoo provided. The room had a little TV with local channels and an HDMI port, so bring a laptop and HDMI cable if you want to watch your own programmes. There was an electric jug and another jug in the room. Hot or cold Coway water was available in the central lounge, along with mugs and spoons for hot drinks. Each mug came with a pack of coffee mix. (27 January, 5.30 p.m.)

The room was clean and comfortable, and the location near the airport was convenient. For the price, this is one of the cleanest hotels I’ve stayed in, and our stay was good overall. The front desk experience let it down. The Malay (probably) guy at reception wasn’t friendly, didn’t smile, and came across as a bit rude. How guests are greeted matters in hospitality. I asked for two extra pillows. No one initially said there’d be a charge, but the housekeeper later told me they cost RM5 each. I paid because I needed them, though extra pillows are usually complimentary at most hotels. I wasn’t given a receipt, which felt a bit suspicious. I hope management improves staff behaviour and is clearer about extra charges.

The location is probably the best thing about this place, since it’s close to the airport for a transit stay. The room was okay for sleeping, but the atmosphere felt kind of scary and spooky. I booked two queen-sized bedrooms and didn’t like being given two separate rooms on different floors. There’s free WiFi, a water heater, and extra coffee sachets. You can refill water without limit from the dispenser outside the rooms, though they don’t provide daily water bottles. The shower has hot water, and toothbrushes are provided, but the toothpaste tasted really weird. The shampoo and soap in the bathroom weren’t labelled. There were also lots of cats in that continent.

I arrived a few minutes after midnight and check-in through the hotel system was quick and easy. Since I booked through traveloka, the 10RM Tourism fee and 5RM Selangor Fee weren’t included in the price. They were easy to pay by debit card through the system, but cash wasn’t accepted. The room was nice and the amenities were enough for me, though there was no toothbrush, toothpaste, or sandals. There’s a 24-hour mamak-style restaurant nearby if you want a midnight bite. It’s worth every penny, and you can see aeroplanes parking near the hotel.
