Tijami Villa & Resort

The location is a big part of what makes Tijami Villa & Resort special. It's on a narrow strip between the South China Sea and the Setiu River, making for a very peaceful escape from city life. It's also close to the Pantai Penarik roundabout and its seaside restaurants, as well as a jetty for island-hopping day trips. We stayed in a spacious, clean, modern three-bedroom villa, with a private pool right outside that the kids loved. The resort has well-kept ATVs and bikes to explore on. Our sunset ATV ride through the village, past goats and cows roaming freely, was a highlight. There's a pleasant reception area with a self-service pantry too, with vending machines for coffee, snacks, and cup noodles. The basic car park shelter did its job, keeping our car cool after hours in the sun. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner can be arranged on request, which is handy. We'd definitely return and highly recommend Tijami for a relaxing, unusual, and luxurious Terengganu getaway.

We booked Tijami for one night on the way to Perhentian Island. The grounds were clean and looked fairly new, and our room was comfortable, with a double bed and plenty of space. The reception women were friendly and helpful the whole time. We were sorry to have only stayed one night. We didn't get to explore the nice village, and bad weather meant we couldn't take the planned Firefly tour that night. There seem to be lots of activities on offer, and the hotel area is a nice place to relax, so I think it's worth staying longer.

I booked the Double Room at Tijami Villa, listed as 20m², but it was only around 12m² in reality and felt much smaller than expected. The toilet was very cramped and awkwardly laid out. Its ceiling is higher outside, then gets very low inside because it's built under the stairs, which made the space uncomfortable and poorly designed. The stay was disappointing, and I hope the listing is updated to honestly show the room's actual size and layout.

The activities and service were attractive, and parking was easy. We had a big, clean room with lovely decor, and the receptionist was kind when we arrived. A great spot for a staycation, and do try their Nasi Dagang.
