There are shops nearby, so daytime parking can be difficult, though food and groceries are easy to find. The room was clean when we arrived, but I did spot rubbish under the bed and a biscuit in the table drawer. Hanging clothes or towels over the table with the water boiler seemed odd. There’s no iron in the room, but you can ask reception for ironing facilities. Water pressure was low, and the showerhead fixture stayed loose even after I tried to secure it. Check-in requires a RM50 deposit, returned at checkout if the room is clean.

I’m very unhappy with how the early check-in was handled. My booking was for 17/05/2026 at 2 PM until 18/05/2026, but we arrived at 3 AM on the 17th. I told the receptionist we were early because of our arrival time. He said to change the date for an early check-in, and I agreed after explaining what I needed. He took a deposit but no extra payment, so I assumed there was no additional charge. At 12:22 PM another receptionist called asking when we were checking out. I said we were due to leave on the 18th. He told me we could later move to the room booked through the app, and I asked for time to pack. But at the counter, the same person who called said I had already checked in and there was no other booking. I was exhausted and still asleep when the call came, and the instructions were completely different. I was with friends, and my friend heard the conversation too. The manager and owner of OTEL HOTEL SIBU at HANNS RESIDENCE should train the receptionists better. One thing is said on the phone and another at the counter. Are they trying to cover for the other receptionist? This wasted my money.

The room itself was fine for the one night I stayed. The problem is the RM100 deposit: because I paid by card, I was assured it would be refunded within a week. More than a month has passed, and after three calls I still haven’t received it. That’s unacceptable. It feels like they’re deliberately keeping my money, assuming a tourist who has left the country won’t chase it up. This is outright dishonest.

There’s no breakfast at the hotel, but the coffee shop next door serves food from 7 am, and downstairs gets lively in the evening with Western, Japanese, and Chinese restaurants. The room is a little small, though fair for the price. It was clean, and the bed was reasonably comfortable. The bathroom was clean too, with toothbrushes and a shower cap. Hot water stayed at a steady temperature, but the flow was weak. A solid option for a simple, convenient stay.
