Once I got settled and unpacked, I felt comfortable, and the hotel was extremely quiet. The king-size bed was very comfortable, with decent air conditioning, Wi-Fi and water pressure. It's hard to beat the central location, about a 12-minute walk from the train station and a short walk from the main attractions. There really isn't much choice for budget accommodation in this small town, so I can recommend it, though the room has clearly seen better days. It was small, shabby and not very clean, the mirrors were dirty, and there were no towels. I was only staying four nights, so I left the mirrors as they were. The corridor to the lift was dark and gloomy, though the lift worked. My first impressions weren't great: after a short taxi ride from the station, the driver ripped me off, so next time I'll use Grab. Then I checked in with a receptionist who looked miserable and was very unfriendly. I smiled and asked how she was, but got no warm response. I don't understand why someone would work at a hotel reception without basic customer service. When I checked out, though, a younger woman was friendly and courteous.

The rooms were simply decorated, clean and very comfortable. The staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting downtown Taiping.

A basic budget place. You only get a towel if you ask for one.

There is very little room between the door and the bed, and space in the room is limited. Still, two double beds for RM100 a night is very cheap. They have an iron on each floor, a surau on level 5 and an elevator. The shower has strong pressure and hot water. The laundry opposite the hotel was closed at night, but there's a 24-hour service not too far away, across two blocks, if I remember right. I liked staying here.
