The city view from the cafe is stunning, and it’s not far from town. You can also get a good view of Kota Kinabalu from there, though it’s worth asking about a room with a nice outlook because the rooms don’t have that same view. The rooms feel worn and really need renovating. There’s a TV, but no channels worked, so I’m not sure why it’s there. The cafe lets the place down: the food choices are limited, the rice was hard and poor quality, and the menu is the same all day. It seemed like lunch could be leftovers from breakfast or dinner, and the food didn’t taste freshly cooked. The view is lovely, but the food needs a lot of improvement.

The drinks were okay, and the view was great, but the food was a letdown. My friends and I got nasi goreng kampung and carbonara. Both were bland and mediocre, with hardly any flavor. At RM28 and RM25, they really didn’t feel worth the price. They need to work on the cooking. If I come back, I’ll probably stick to drinks and maybe dessert.

The cafe looks out over the city and offshore islands, which was a nice part of the stay. The menu has very few choices and some items were sold out; breakfast was also a small spread, edible for one morning but not especially tasty. There’s a basketball court, mini golf for a fee, an outdoor playground, a fitness corner, photo spots by the cafe, and a giant chess board. We stayed one night in the Duplex Family room at Rose Villa 1. It had one queen/king bed downstairs and two floor mattresses upstairs; we paid extra for a third mattress. The balcony faced the mountains. It’s a short uphill walk from the main resort, where reception and the cafe are. The night was foggy and chilly, so bring a jacket if you’re wearing short sleeves. We asked about the stay and booked over WhatsApp.

I come to Kota Kinabalu every year for winter, and I always enjoy coming here. I’m from Europa, not local. The view is lovely for taking pictures, and in the evenings you can hear the jungle. Entry costs 10rm and includes a free drink. Try to come when it isn’t cloudy if you want to see the sunset over the city and rainforest.

My stay at kokol Haven Resort was okay overall. I’m from kota kinabalu. The food could be better: the fried koew teow was just okay, and the asam pedas oxtail at rm45 seemed expensive for a dish served only with a cracker and rice. I also don’t think plastic cups should be used for serving, as that isn’t good for health. Breakfast needs more choices too. During our stay on 7 February, checking out on 8 February 2026, we got fried eggs and omelette, mee, fried rice, and chicken with tomato sauce. They could offer things like fish cake with masak sauce or chicken wings instead. I hope management will look into these points.
