At The Lake - Camp Lagoa

The grass around the camp was a highlight, and there’s beautiful nature all around. Our room was clean and spacious, the kitchens had everything we needed, and the ablutions were perfect. We had a fantastic time at Camp Lagoa, and the host was extremely friendly.

The sand road to Camp Lagoa can be a little tricky without a 4x4, but it’s doable and well worth it. If you’re unsure, Dylan can quickly arrange a taxi. At the sunset shack next door they have cold beer and delicious peri peri chicken, which can even be delivered to your cabin. You can also cook for yourself and have a fire. The sunsets over the lake are stunning. Dylan is fascinating to talk with, and his dogs add to what makes the place special. The cabins are cozy and comfortable, with gorgeous lake views and nature all around. He went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Camp Lagoa is a real labour of love, and you can feel it. Being away from Ponta’s bustle and tourist vibe made for a more authentic experience of the Mozambique countryside. Our only regret is not finding it sooner. Highly recommended!

I stayed at Camp Lagoa with my wife in April 2021. Darryl and the staff made a real effort to make us feel welcome. The facilities were clean and well cared for, and Darryl was a gracious, generous host. 10/10, I’ll definitely return as soon as I can get away from work.

Camp Lagoa felt like home in nature, with butterflies, fireflies, sunbirds, and resident dogs to welcome you. There are several restaurants within walking distance too. We had a wonderful stay and felt completely relaxed beneath the trees at Camp Logoa.
