Gamboozini Lodge

The person running the lodge was really helpful in arranging my ride back to Maputo. I enjoyed my two-night stay. It's a peaceful option compared with the beach houses, and the beach is about a 10-minute walk, partly along a jungle path.

Gamboozini lodge was a very pleasant place to stay, and one of the few accommodations clearly marked on the route from the main road into town. The beds were super cosy, the linen clean and warm, and the place was serviced daily. It has WiFi and warm water. Bring your own towels, though, nothing beats having your own. Mika is friendly and approachable, and you can reach out to him if you need anything. He has the guests' best interests at heart. The onsite restaurant serves delicious food prepared by the host Mika. Try the chicken with chips and salad, it's so good you'll be licking your fingers. The home-style breakfast is just enough for the morning, with a lovely cup of tea or a delicate americano. Ponta do Ouro is a small town on the Moz/SA border at the country's southern tip. If you're looking for luxury, stay home; it's a good place to get away from the busy city and relax instead of sitting in a boring Teams meeting. There are shops, a bank, a garage, markets and small restaurants. Bring enough cash, unless you have a Visa card for paying or withdrawing.

A very late review, but better late than never. My family and I spent three lovely days at the little oasis Gamboozini lodge in December 2017. The staff were friendly and helpful, and made delicious spicy rice dishes with chicken or prawns. The prawns are a must try. It's a place for proper relaxation. After a long day at the beach, jumping into the pool was hard to beat. We'll definitely go back in the future. Thank you!

The staff were friendly, the WiFi worked well in the rooms, and breakfast was amazing. I spent three nights here recently and had a lovely stay. It's surrounded by nature, with pretty gardens and a pool, and the beach is about a five-minute walk away. Highly recommended!
