NWR Hobas Campsite

The restaurant was nice. We had the set three-course dinner for N$300 per person, and it was great. The small shop stays open until 6 pm. Campsites are clean, spacious, and well equipped with a fire pit, braai, taps, and good ablutions.

Hobas Lodge has potential, but service consistency and basic amenities still need serious attention. Job was the only staff member who was genuinely friendly and helpful, and he made the experience better. The restaurant staff, unfortunately, came across as aloof and unwelcoming. Bring cash, since the speed point doesn’t always work. WiFi is available only at reception and the restaurant, not in the rooms. I’d strongly recommend driving the roughly 15 km to Canyon Roadhouse for every meal. The food, service, and atmosphere there are far superior and worth the trip. Even with these caveats, Hobas is the only Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) accommodation I’d recommend people travel to.

The bathrooms were dirty and the showers didn’t work well. The campsite was totally overpriced, and the staff were super unfriendly. There aren’t really other options here, though.

Day permits were R100 per adult and R50 per vehicle, making it a very expensive outing if you’re only visiting the viewpoint. The ticket office took cash only, even though card facilities were available at the shop across from it. The ticket office staff member distrusted us when we told them our kids’ ages. The woman working in the shop was very friendly.
