I spent five days at Urban Camp and enjoyed every minute. The staff were warm and genuinely kind, and the owner seems to have built the place with a lot of love and a little genius. Even the food was thoughtfully prepared, and they adapted it for my gluten free needs. Though it's in the middle of Windhoek, the camp feels like a calm escape from the city. It's well placed for game lodges and 4x4 adventures, or just a break from reality. The pool and outdoor living spaces added to the relaxed feel, and the open air bathrooms were a real treat. Showering under the sky gave me a sense of freedom I hadn't realized I needed. Urban Camp is the kind of place where you may forget you ever had a reason to leave. I highly recommend it.

The restaurant is good and reasonably priced, and the camp spots have excellent amenities. It feels like camping out in the bush, even though you're in town. A really good place to stay, highly recommend.

The campsite itself is lovely, beautifully laid out and well situated, with what you need for a comfortable stay. The other staff were kind and understanding, but the manager's way of speaking to guests and staff shocked us. We explained on arrival that our car had trouble and couldn't be moved once repairs began. They agreed to let us stay on that basis. The repair became more complicated than expected, and parts had to come from Europe, which took time. Eventually the manager shouted at us, accused us of lying and staying too long, then insisted we leave right away even though the car still couldn't be driven. After that, we felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome. Also, be aware that they don't give refunds, even when the booking error is on their side.

I had a flat tyre just outside Urban Camp and asked politely if I could park inside for safety while waiting for my husband to help. I'm a woman, and they wouldn't let me in or even wait inside. They told me to move away from the gate and wait in my car outside. Worst experience ever. What a horrible, unwelcoming place. I don't recommend it to anyone. Why support a place that won't show basic human kindness and decency?
