The staff were lovely and helpful, and breakfast was a treat, with fresh omelettes. The manageress was on site and checked in on everyone, which was a nice touch. The hotel is tidy, with decent rooms, though the boutique feel didn’t quite come through for me. It reminded me a bit of a car showroom. There are no gardens, but the pool between the two car parks is nice. It’s fenced, with electric gates and an attendant there all the time. Our room had an ill-fitting door, with a piece tacked on to cover the gap, and there was a small hole in it. The AC worked well. The TV had no remote, and I couldn’t turn it on without one. WiFi was okay. The hotel isn’t near much, but taxis in Windhoek are really cheap. We took one from reception to Joes beer house, about 10 minutes away, and had an excellent meal and beers. The small bar serves Hansa draught.

The care and cleanliness really impressed us. Our room was pristine, nicely decorated, and had a large, clean shower and toilet. We also had a lovely private garden patio behind the room. Housekeeping brought fresh, clean duvets without us asking when it got a bit chilly. Breakfast was delicious, served in a quaint, clean dining room. The receptionist was charming, the concierge polite and very helpful, and the room staff were accommodating. We had a wonderful stay at the Windhoek Gardens Boutique Hotel. The Naidoos, South Africa.

I paid for a comfort room but was given a standard one, and they blamed Booking.com. They later admitted they had no rooms left, apparently because the owner's friend was staying there. They said they’d refund me, but the manager gave me a phone number she never answers. If you care about your money, don’t go here.

The staff looked after me really well over Christmas. The location is great, about a 15-minute walk just outside the main town. The food is Western style and good, and both the room and shower were a decent size.

The location and atmosphere were great, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. At first glance, the premises and rooms looked good, but our room had two serious problems. Black mold covered the shower tiles and the crown molding in the bathroom. The shower floor slopes the wrong way, so it doesn’t drain properly, which likely caused the mold. The in-room AC did nothing to cool things down. It was 37C, and even with the unit set correctly to its lowest setting, 17C, the room didn’t cool until 4am. It seemed to be drawing in outside air without cooling it. That was the worst night’s sleep of my two-week trip. We got back late and I just wanted to sleep before our 6am flight, so I didn’t contact the front desk or try to switch rooms. We were in room 18. I strongly recommend checking your room thoroughly as soon as you check in.
