Georgetown Hotel

I came hoping to get some sleep, but it was terrible. At exactly 6:00am, they put on music, and my complaints went nowhere. The staff said the bar man had told the guest to come out and speak to him directly. When I asked to talk to a manager, they said there was no manager there and that everyone was equal, with no senior or junior. They kept telling me, “Madam, if you can come out and tell him.” I was a paying guest, yet they expected me to leave my room and ask someone at the bar to turn down the loud music so I could sleep. I asked who the bar man was, but still got nowhere. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you want quiet or expect polite, professional staff.

There’s a large hall and a nice swimming pool, plus a reasonable amount of parking.

The food was consistently tasty, well prepared, and fairly priced. I usually struggle to enjoy hotel meals, but I liked these. The rooms were neat and comfortable, with a homey feel and crisp white sheets. Staff were friendly and polite. It’s a peaceful location away from the usual hotel bustle, with a nice poolside too. I’ll definitely visit again.

The location is lovely and the power supply is good, but the service and rooms don’t make up for it. Some rooms are very small, and most of the toilets I saw had no windows. They were poorly ventilated, so I kept leaving my room door open to try to get a bit of nonexistent breeze into the toilet. The air conditioning was badly placed. It could be on and the room would still feel hot, stuffy, and sizzling. The swimming pool was out of commission too, so I couldn’t escape the hot room to get some fresh air by the pool. I had to leave the room’s only window open, which let mosquitoes in. My stay was unsatisfactory. I’m not sure I’d recommend Stanzel unless it’s the only place you can afford. I wish I’d managed to get clear pictures during my stay, because they would have made this easier to explain.
