Hotel Quo Vadis

I arrived for the two nights I’d booked and found filthy rooms with a terrible smell. I couldn’t stay in those conditions, so I refused the room and asked for my money back. Although I had paid only an hour before check-in, they said they would keep 30% and that the refund would take seven days. When I followed up a week later, they said payments went through the chairman and their accountant had just come back from leave, so I’d have to wait another seven days. It’s been a frustrating runaround, and I may end up writing off the money. The staff were rude and unprofessional, and the hotel was in a deplorable state. Save yourself the trouble and stay away.

The restaurant food was yummy and good value, and the service was great. I did have a dip in the bed that I sank into while sleeping, so it’s definitely time for a new mattress. There was also a sketchy blinking red light in the bathroom mirror. I was convinced it was a camera, but the front desk assured me it was “aesthetics.” I covered it with a post it note just in case.

The porters were polite and helpful, but I ended up cutting my stay short to find better accommodation. I won’t be coming back. If you stay more than one night and ask for a discount, apparently you lose the complimentary breakfast. They didn’t tell me upfront, then embarrassed me when I tried to get into the restaurant. Quite petty when I was planning to stay many nights. My room had a lot of problems. There was no key, so they opened it with a master key and said they’d bring one back, but never did. Every time I went out and returned, I had to wait for someone to open the door. The toilet needed several flushes, the bathroom drain didn’t flow, and I was left standing in a pool of my own filth while bathing. The safe was permanently locked, even though I asked about it before checking in. The wardrobe door nearly fell on me twice. I asked to change rooms and they basically said no. A bad experience overall.

I was only there briefly for a meeting, but the cleanliness really stood out. I used the restroom and didn’t want to leave, it was so clean and smelled so nice!
