The rooms were clean and spacious, the kind of place that makes you briefly wonder whether to cancel your flight home and start a new life there. Staff were friendly and polite, and very sure of systems that may or may not exist. I just wanted a printed receipt. They said it would be sent automatically by email, which sounded fine until nobody could say which email address. I kept asking for a hard copy, but reception wouldn’t budge, as if the printer held state secrets. In the end I asked what address they had on file. None, apparently. So that automatic email was running on faith. I gave them my email and am still waiting, hopeful that the receipt will somehow find its way to me.

This is my favourite hotel in Nigeria. The staff made me feel so welcome and at home, especially Weinner and Augustine. They’re lovely, professional people who are always willing to help. Wonderful service, thank you. Jon

Right in the heart of Abuja, which is the biggest draw for me. It’s a bit of a classic Abuja staple and has a lived-in feel, but it’s clean and the staff are really helpful. A good option if you want to be near restaurants and nightlife without spending too much.

The food was great, and it’s a really nice, comfortable place. My one issue was that there wasn’t a porter to carry my bag upstairs to the room.

Wuse market was about a 15-minute walk, and there was a closer Spar shopping mall, though most of its shops had unfortunately closed. My room on the fifth floor had a lovely view, and I got complimentary water each day. The decor was nice and the hotel looked a bit posh, with staff who were quick and attentive. There was no fridge or chiller, so I couldn’t keep drinks cold unless I ordered from room service. The food was varied and well prepared, but it tasted bland to me, though others might like it. The bed also wasn’t firm enough, and some mornings I woke up aching.
