London Base Villa

I stayed at London Base on Friday 1 March 2024, and I regret spending N25,000 there. I would never recommend it. For what they provide, I don't think a room should cost more than N5,000. I booked because I had an online meeting from 7pm to 10:30pm. Before I arrived, I asked the receptionist about electricity and was assured there was power. I got there around 5-6pm. They said no N20,000 room was available, but I watched the receptionist sell one at that price to someone else. It made me wonder if I was charged N25,000 for a N20,000 room. Around 7pm, the lights began switching on and off every couple of minutes. When I asked what was going on, they said the generator was faulty. Staff struggled with it for hours. The receptionist told me that the front desk staff had raised complaints about these problems before and management did nothing. It seemed they knew the generator was unreliable and took guests' money anyway. I couldn't host my meeting and lost money because of it. NEPA restored power around midnight, but then the AC wasn't working. You have to go downstairs or call someone to bring the remote when the AC goes off. There were mosquitoes all over the room, too. I complained, and the receptionist initially acted as if I didn't know what I was talking about. I raised my voice, and another guest came out to say his AC was out as well. To be fair, she did try to calm us down, though she seemed to treat it as a normal problem and not care much. The next morning, breakfast was meant to be complimentary, along with swimming. I called reception around 8am, and they said they'd check with the kitchen. After waiting an hour, I called again, worried breakfast might run out. Only then did they tell me the kitchen had no ingredients, including milk and bread. A hotel being out of breakfast basics is bad enough, and I shouldn't have had to call twice to find out. Around 11am, before checkout time, a man kept banging loudly on guests' doors. I tried to ignore him, but he wouldn't stop. When I opened, he said my door was open and not properly locked. If it wasn't locked, why couldn't he open it himself? The internet was poor, and if you use an MTN line, don't bother going there because there's no network. Between that, the mosquitoes, the electricity problems, and the poor staff service, this was a terrible experience. I also saw them tell someone there was no N20,000 room, then sell one to another guest, which felt dishonest. I'll review them on video on my other platforms so people know what happened. I'm sure they'll try to pay people to write positive reviews.

I spent three days at London base and really enjoyed it. The place comes to mind when I think of comfort and peace. Keep up the good service, and kudos to the team.
