This hotel has a lot of history, but it’s starting to show its age. It really needs maintenance soon, and guests would appreciate a facelift too. Some of the unpleasant smells need to go, and a fresher scent would help.

The gardens and quiet surroundings made it easy to relax and switch off for a while. The Stonehedge Hotel also had plenty of space, from the generously sized rooms to the common areas, which gave me room to unwind and some privacy. Getting there was straightforward from different transport options, and the parking was spacious and easy to use. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout my stay. They handled my questions and requests quickly, and I felt well looked after.

The biggest letdown was the food. The kitchen and chefs need attention, since what they served wasn’t memorable. In room 211, water leaked badly from a pipe connected to the heater. Management also seems to be having a hard time keeping the hotel going, and the place needs more work to live up to what its location suggests. The hotel is central and easy to reach. It’s somewhat old, though moderately refreshed and neat, with plenty of air and good lighting.

That was awful. The room door was faulty after I booked, and someone could open it easily from outside. Seriously.

The meeting rooms are laid out well, and the place feels polished and classy. I liked the blend of traditional hospitality and more modern design. The staff were friendly too.
