Bestwestern Plus Wetland Hotel

Other parts of the service may be good, but my first impression put me off. The executive suite had no working intercom and seemed unkempt, perhaps because people don’t book it often. On my last visit, June 19th, 2025, we had to wait for the room to be cleaned before we could settle in.

The hotel is nicely located, with tidy rooms and grounds, and the front desk staff were very welcoming. The service itself was poor, though. The bathrooms didn’t have enough toiletries for a day, and guests were expected to ask for basics like a toothbrush and toothpaste that should be supplied daily. Restaurant staff were sluggish too. On several occasions, my room orders took a long time to arrive, with no apology.

The rooms are a bit small, but well appointed, with a harmonious colour scheme and adequate plumbing. The place is clean and well kept, with superb lighting indoors and out, and steady power without the usual diesel generator noise. Check-in reception was understaffed, though seamless electronic bookkeeping helped make up for it. Room service was above average, and the staff were efficient without being intrusive. A pleasant stay.

I’d stay again if I were invited. The stay was pleasant and the staff were kind, though I got a lot of stares for being white. I couldn’t get a cocktail without buying a whole bottle, so I had a beer instead.
