Horizon Hotels

I couldn’t sleep there. The room had roaches when I arrived, looked like it might have bedbugs, and the toilet flush was broken with the roof above it wide open. The AC had no controls. They offered another room, but there was no running water, so I’d have had to ask an attendant for a bucket whenever I needed the bathroom. It was a ridiculous experience. When I asked for my money back, they suggested I return to Kano and use it on a future stay. I did get refunded. The location is good, but everything else was bad.

Of the 15 hotels I visited across the country in the last 20 days, this was the worst. The bathroom wouldn’t drain, so bathwater ran into the main room, and the tap head fell into the standing water. I couldn’t finish bathing, and reception ignored all my calls. The sheets were torn, there wasn’t a single duvet, and mosquitoes were enormous. I also believe I picked up a viral skin problem here. It’s overpriced, and I’m telling you, there’s disease on those beds.

Being able to bring a pet in Nigeria is a rare find, and that made this a good stay for me. The hotel’s renovating, though, and there were electrical problems: the rooms had issues with the hotm and sockets, and touching the parking garden fence could give you a shock. Still, I had a pleasant stay, and kudos to them for being pet friendly.

I regret staying here. There was no water, no electricity, and they refused to switch on the generator. Service was extremely poor, with mosquitoes and cockroaches everywhere. This was the worst hotel experience of my life. Don’t give it a try, it was horrible.
