The room was extremely cramped, the bathroom was atrocious, the water was cold, and only one outlet worked. We asked to check out early. We’d only booked one night before boarding our flight, but the poor accommodations and lack of a professional resolution had already ruined the first impression. We arrived early in the morning after making a reservation and paying in full. The streets felt deserted and spooky. We gave them our reservation details, waited, and were told there were no rooms at all until 2 PM, when people would start checking out. After we asked more than twice about early check-in, they came back a few minutes later and said we could have it. That was quite a change from being told there was absolutely no room, yet suddenly one was available. They charged us 40,000 naira for early check-in, which we paid without a problem. The concierge had said breakfast was complimentary and told us when it started, but said only one of the two people listed on the reservation could eat. That same morning, my guest went to get breakfast and gave them our room number. They still turned her away, saying that because we’d paid for early check-in, we couldn’t have breakfast. My guest needed food with her medication, and we hadn’t eaten anything from the time we checked in until 11:30 AM. I don’t understand how this place has a 4.3-star rating. Maybe it’s bots? Don’t be taken in by the positive reviews, they seem exaggerated. If the hotel responds with something different from what they know happened, I’ll update my review to include photos.
