The staff were polite and professional, and did try to help. That's the one good thing I can say about our three nights at Avenue Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos. We couldn't find another place to stay because everything was booked for the festive season, so we had to put up with the conditions. The hotel looks promising from outside, but the whole place smelled, especially the rooms. Our first room was cramped, dated, and had a filthy bathroom with rust and marks on the walls. We asked to move and got a larger room, but it smelled just as bad. The bathtub was rusty, the sink and tap looked unclean, and there was no shower curtain, so water covered the bathroom floor whenever we showered. It was an unpleasant ordeal each time. For ₦260,000 a night, this was nowhere near worth the money. The conditions didn't meet basic hospitality standards, let alone justify a luxury price. The website has no bathroom photos, and now I understand why. I have photos of what we found and will attach them, because words don't capture it. The place's appearance is misleading, and the hygiene was very poor. I'd tell anyone considering it to stay elsewhere. It was deeply disappointing.
