Marble Brand Hotel

Marble Brand Hotel was superb. If you need an affordable place to stay in Lagos, it’s a decent option.

Being in Ikeja is handy if you have things to do in the city, but the narrow streets and scarce parking are typical Lagos issues. The hotel itself is just so-so. The rooms are small, and the toilet is even tinier. Getting in or out means squeezing between the wall and the edge of the door. There’s no complimentary breakfast either.

Marble Brand was quiet while I was there, though I occasionally heard planes taking off or landing, which is normal for Ikeja. The staff were courteous and professional, and I found the laundry service prompt. They take both cash and cards. There’s a bar, kitchen and spa as well. The rooms are affordable, neat and well lit for what you pay compared with nearby options. Mine had an AC, fridge, electric kettle, water heater, reading lamp, and blue lighting for anyone who prefers not to sleep in the dark. The hotel is around Obafemi Awolowo Road, Ikeja. Parking is limited, with space for maybe three or four cars. It isn’t wheelchair accessible: there are no elevators, and most rooms require climbing at least one flight of stairs.

The surroundings have a nice atmosphere, and the rooms are fine. What really put me off was the service: a wait staff member overbilled me, and I was very upset. I’d planned to make this my go-to whenever I’m around Ikeja, but that experience changed my mind. I’d give the other things five stars, just not the service. Management should train the staff and be stricter.
