The biggest problem was how the staff handled our complaints. We found bedbugs in our bed at the end of the stay, took a photo, and reported it right away. They offered discounted rooms for the next days, but no refund. They guessed another guest had brought the bugs into our exact room, without any evidence. Instead of taking responsibility or offering even a partial refund for our time, they tried to move us and charge us more. The staff were kind and accommodating in general, which made the lack of accountability harder to understand. Breakfast was okay but had little variety. If you expect a continental spread, this isn't quite that, though what we had was still good. The food tasted good but was pretty expensive. The bathroom had poor ventilation, so the smell lingered in the room. After the first day, we couldn't stay in there anymore. There were cracks in the shower, too.

Our room was spacious, with a comfortable bed and crisp white linens, but it needs repairs. There were cracks and peeling paint, plus a dripping shower and a poor toilet seat. The breakfast buffet was disappointing for both quality and choice, though the canteen staff were helpful. The Victoria Island location is convenient for getting to attractions, and security is strong. Reception staff were genuinely friendly and attentive. There's plenty of parking, but noise from the bar during events can be a problem. Good location and people, but the facilities need updating.

Clean and tidy, and we could get it within our budget.

The karaoke gets loud at night and bothers people in the Executive rooms. Some in-room amenities could use an upgrade, too. Still, Riviera has a lovely amount of space, good restaurants and a nice pool. It's a great hotel overall.
