Serendipity Anchotel

It’s usually peaceful here, though the staff can be grumpy at times.

This hotel has a bad attitude. The owner came across as very proud of himself. I was given a room, then asked to switch after two hours and said I was happy to pay extra for those hours. He refused, and he still didn’t return my money.

I’m staying here with my family now. It’s a quaint little place in a reasonably quiet area, and the name Serendipity... seems fitting and has a nice feel to it for other kinds of trips. The repeated stopping and restarting of the generator because the power from Ikeja Electric Power Authority keeps cutting in and out is unsettling. It also doesn’t really feel like a family-oriented hotel.

On the day of my mum’s burial, I brought back food I hadn’t managed to eat earlier because I was weeping. It was going stale, so I asked them to warm it up and explained what had happened. I understand and respect the hotel’s policy about outside food, but I asked for an exception because I didn’t want it to spoil. I pleaded, tried to persuade them, and even offered to pay. They flatly refused, and the food went bad. They didn’t deserve my money.
