The AHI Residence Hotel

I’d happily recommend this hotel. It’s in a peaceful spot, with bus parks about five minutes away. The staff were courteous, the service was great, and the stay felt like good value for the money.

The rooftop was a highlight for me, with clear views of both sunrise and sunset. I also really enjoyed the food and the lovely surroundings. Everyone working there was friendly and accommodating, and I had a great time chatting with them. It’s one of the best stays I’ve had, and I’ll remember the place 🫶🏽.

The rooms are on the small side, but they’re really nice for one person or a couple. They’re affordable, and the food is good quality. I was surprised by how good the service at AHI residence was, especially since it’s run by a nonprofit. There’s no smoking, which suited me because I can’t stand the smell of tobacco. I’d definitely like to come back soon.

A quiet street in Igbobi made the hotel peaceful at night, though it’s not the handiest spot for transport or nearby shops, restaurants, banks, and pharmacies. The staff were mostly polite and pleasant once the initial trouble had passed. The room was plain but functional, with no noticeable smell, or only a slight one that didn’t bother me. The sheets didn’t feel fresh, but that wasn’t a major concern. The queen bed in the NGN31,500 room should work for two average-sized people. Food portions were generous, tasty, and affordable at 7-10k per person. Breakfast was included, which helped with the value. The AC, fridge, shower, toilet, water heater, flush, wardrobe, and TV all worked. A toilet mat would have been useful. I’m not sure the WiFi works, since nobody gave us the details, so maybe you have to call for access. The rooms are on the third and fourth floors, and there’s no elevator, so you’ll need to take the stairs. The stay was generally okay, but the booking and payment situation soured it. I reserved through Ahi Residence’s website, which sent me to HotelMoney to pay. I paid and got a confirmation email, but when my mum arrived, the hotel said the booking wasn’t valid and payments had to be made in person. We chose the hotel because it’s close to Igbobi Orthopaedic, where she needed treatment for her knee, and she has trouble with stairs and walking. She was kept waiting for two hours, then had to pay for a separate booking. The front desk firmly told us to seek a refund from HotelMoney, even though the payment gateway was listed on the hotel’s website. After several calls and follow-up emails, HotelMoney and Paystack said the refund would take 7-15 business days. I copied Ahi on the correspondence, but they haven’t responded. NGN31,500 is still tied up. An elevator, better room maintenance and cleanliness, and a smoother first-time booking experience would have made a real difference. Those improvements could bring it up to a solid four stars.
