The Palmview Manor

It felt more like home, and the price seemed fair for the atmosphere and the Heart of VI location. Security was 100%, and the staff were respectful, well mannered, and always willing to help. The food was tasty too. Water was clean and clear, and I enjoyed my whole stay, coming all the way from Delta states. There are some classical, old fashioned touches. I do think reception could use a TV, though.

With a focus on privacy and personal service, it suits business or leisure guests who want a more exclusive place. The setting is peaceful right in the heart of Victoria Island, and the hotel has a stylish, classy feel. Suites have balconies, the rooms are spacious, and the meals are both healthy and tasty. The Friday grills are especially good and spicy. Executive, business, and superior rooms have walk-in showers and bathtubs.

Laundry was handled efficiently, and the room TV had a decent range of stations. The rooms and bathrooms were neat and reasonably well lit. I liked the flavour of the restaurant’s Jollof rice and chicken, though it was quite spicy. The menu can be frustrating because some dishes aren’t available when you order. Also, the old carpet in the corridors has a musty smell that follows you as you walk to the rooms. It really should be replaced with tiles or wood flooring.

The place feels dated, and several utilities weren’t working. There’s nothing particularly fancy or memorable about this average hotel in VI. A renovation would make a big difference.
