The Wheatbaker

Wheatbaker's security staff even wear well tailored suits on duty, which tells you something about the place. It's an aristocratic hotel in its outlook and operation, and the experience is pleasant whether you're staying overnight or just dining. It isn't cheap, and some guests have complained about the food and drink prices, but the location and class come at a cost. The atmosphere is something you have to experience for yourself. Set on Lawrence Rd in an upscale part of Ikoyi, Lagos, it's close to Banana Island and the link bridge to Lekki Phase 1, so getting around the city is easy. The hotel is modern and very clean inside and out, with good architecture, quality construction, and comfortable, well laid out rooms. Bathrooms are spacious and the atmosphere is lovely. Staff are everywhere, neatly dressed, courteous, and ready to help. The lounge and bar are impressive, and the restaurant serves consistently good food. Most meals are buffet style, with a wide choice of delicious dishes. Dining there feels like a king's feast. There's also a modern swimming pool with an outdoor bar. I'd give Wheatbaker a thumbs up for the professional staff, setting, restaurant, and homely rooms.

Breakfast had a great spread, and the professional staff were polite and helpful. I felt safe, and the location worked well for me. The pool and gym were out of order, which was a shame, and some rooms need maintenance. Housekeeping did a great job every day, and room service called regularly to check on guests. I really enjoyed my stay and would likely come back.

It's always a peaceful setting, and the staff are friendly. The food is five star, especially those beef sausages I keep looking forward to. They deliver reliably and hardly ever have excuses.
