Polo Court Hotel

The ambience is nice, but the laundry and interior feel old. Customer service was poor, especially from the Manager, who was exceptionally rude and didn't seem to care about guests' comfort or welfare. There was no water bottle in the room and no toiletries, just a tiny bar of toilet soap. The sheets looked dull and stained, and I had to keep asking for towels and floor mats. The intercom was faulty too. They didn't tell me about breakfast, and when I asked, they were evasive or took ages to prepare it.

The place has a beautiful reception, a nice pool area, and a restaurant space that's cute, but the stay didn't live up to that appearance. Mosquitoes kept me from resting in the early morning. My room wasn't ready when I arrived, so I waited while it was prepared. At the front desk they couldn't find my booking until some time had passed and someone called a senior manager. It seemed they had no system for tracking the day's arrivals. The booking confirmation didn't say the dates, room type, or initial deposit. After I complained, a second email came with only the payment amount and still no room details. In the room, the sheet was stained, which felt unacceptable during COVID-19. I requested a replacement and got one promptly, but it wasn't crisply ironed. One light was out and still hadn't been replaced by day 3. There was no complimentary water. The bathroom had no soap holder, body lotion, or shampoo. The only bar soap was like something from a low class, cheap hotel, and the old towels weren't crisp white anymore and are due to be changed. A simple noodles and omelette breakfast order took over 45 minutes and never arrived. While I was asleep, someone claiming to be the manager called my room and was extremely rude to my spouse. That's unacceptable from hospitality staff, especially a manager. Employees need more hospitality management training, because the way things were handled clearly shows it.

It's tastefully furnished and in a great location. Being close to the port harcourt polo club, I guessed it was set up to house participants and guests during tournaments. The hotel is very small, though, and parking is limited, so only a few guests can use it at a time.

The poolside was my favorite, and it was great for pictures. I used the place for a bridal party, and the staff were amazing and helpful. There's a pool, pool bar, restaurant, and bar, and the price was good too.
